PRENATAL YOGA By Bidya at Chikitsa I have recently attended the Prenatal Yoga class at Srimoyi yoga. This has been the best gift I could give myself during my pregnancy. Before starting the classes, Bhaswati, our Yoga teacher looked at the various health problems we face and incorporated exercises/asanas accordingly. She explains how an asana/pose would help or benefit us. Prior to joining the class, I had headache, low appetite, stiff neck etc. and its been only 4-5 weeks since I have been practicing, and I no longer have these health issues. She also took note of my diet and suggested changes to help during my pregnancy. Apart from the Yoga class, her tips, advices and guidance on what a women would face during pregnancy have been immensely helpful in preparing myself for the coming months. I would recommend Srimoyi's prenatal yoga class to any expecting mother. " Excellent Prenatal yoga class" - Geetha OC at YogaTrail, Aug 3, 2014 I had trouble with bloating, constipation and severe muscle cramps. My hands used to go numb during sleep from early pregnancy. I am on the bulky side. So doctors and family did scare me about weight gain and diabetes. Bhaswati is really passionate about her class. My husband and me liked the counselling session we had with her. I have diligently followed the exercises and diet routine. I feel much lighter and healthy than I felt at first trimester. Obviously I have put on weight now that I am in last trimester but I didn't get gestational diabetes. Best thing I liked at Srimoyi is that there are only 4 participants at a time. She gives individual attention to each of the participants and address their specific issues. Thank you Bhaswati ! Sindhura R. at Sulekha Bhaswati takes time to understand your requirements and helps you learn the asanas that treat your problems. Though the classes are once a week the direction they provide helps you stay on course. She explains how each asana takes care of a particular issue. Knowing the theory behind the exercise ensures that you can customize your routine in later stages of pregnancy. Her knowledge regarding diet, doctors and procedures, besides yoga, provides good guidance. ------------------------------ BACK PAIN By Dinesh V. at UrbanPro If you have found Srimoyi Yoga & Bhaswati, stop looking any further ! After having 2 major spinal surgeries, i have been on the constant endeavour to manage & maintain my health with minimal dependency on medicines/treatment. In the past 8 years post surgery, i have benefitted from Allopathy, Ayurveda, Physical Therapy & Core Strengthening. So when i again started encountering health setbacks thanks to the daily grind & stress, my preference this time around was to practice yoga as a way of life & not just look for another treatment. All i needed was a capable teacher who could set me on the right path. Now after completing the course at Srimoyi Yoga with Bhaswati as my teacher, I can confidently vouch for her & her sessions. There are many positive experiences others have mentioned - whether it's her vast knowledge of yoga, ayurveda, nutrition, holistic lifestyle .. the list goes on - i can say with my first hand experience that all of them are true. What sets Bhaswati apart from many other healers & practitioners is that beyond treating people's ailments, she has a genuine interest to change their overall lives for the better. She doesn't hesitate to go the extra mile or to customise her treatment according to the needs of the individual. Maybe it's a combination of her no-nonsense approach combined with empathy & sincerity towards her craft, but if you are willing give her your time & commitment, rest assured you get more than your time and money's worth in return. By Amita Goel at Chikitsa I stay in Bangalore(India). Im 39yrs old and have back pain for PAST 8YRS due to slip disc OR spondolesthesis(different from spondolitis). 24hrs lower back pain radiating down both legs & sometimes to upper back, not able to sit..stand & walk at a stretch. Regular exercises were not helping & pain killers were harmful so surgery was advised by most of the neurosurgeons n orthos, however still their insistence was on exercises because it was grade-I lesthesis which can be very well managed by REGULAR EXERCISES provided they are done UNDER EXPERT GUIDANCE. SO basically 2 things- IT CAN NOT BE CURED IT CAN BE VERY WELL MANAGED. 8yrs....is a pretty long time....!! Having said that, its quite obvious WHAT NOT i must have tried for pain management! Physiotherapy, Alternate therapies accupuncture accupressure, homeopathy, Kerela Aurveda, allopathy, Nerve root block injection twice, spending some good amount of money, close to one lakh in these 8yrs. Had temporary relief which definitely was not helpful. Last year Oct 2013 my condition became very bad and I consulted Dr. Shibu Pillai a senior neurosurgeon in Narayana Hrudalaya Bangalore. He came up with the same diagnosis Grade I chronic Spondolesthesis, managable with regular exercises..... least surgery. I had been very regular with my exercises which i had been doing on my own and both me and my husband had come to believe that nothing was helping and my back was becoming worse. We atlast prepared ourselves for surgery having avoided it fr a long time because Dr.Patir never gauranteed success for my symptoms. And since it involved a major spine surgery, I was extremely scared as to what if my back became worse than what it was at present !! But now I had nothing much to lose. Met Dr. Patir again in Nov 2013 and surgery was planned for April 2014 when my kids had 2mnths summer break. However....Dr. Patir still said that exercises should have helped you why they havent is the question! Sometimes ur not doing them correctly so u dont get results. You have four months with you FIND OUT SOME EXPERT and try once again...may be you dont need surgery by March!! Through a friend of mine we came to know about Srimoyi Yoga classes by Bhaswati Seal, in Bellandur Outer Ring Road. I joined her in Jan 2014 & v soon started loving her classes. Besides her concepts n knowledge being crystal clear shez an excellent motivator.. SRIMOYI YOGA needs no promotion as Bhaswati mam is well known in her field with long waiting lists for enrolment. My only regret was that I'm settled in Bangalore for past 4 yrs and all this while i didn't know about her!! I listened, learned and religiously followed whatever she taught. Within a months time there was a lot of improvement. I cud barely sit, stand and walk for 10min...n i wud start feeling the electric impulses running down my legs to my toes...with sharp pungent pain as if the bones were being drilled through...!! By March I was going for 45min walk, very comfortably without any pain. I am able to sit and stand for longer duration now. One basic fear that all back pain patients have is that their already bad back may become worse wd exercise and they instead resort to bed rest. Rest without adequate n proper exercise makes back muscles weaker than before and one is caught in the vicious circle of rest & pain! Youtube exercises dont help cz every back pain has specifications. Owing to the fear factor one continues to exercise in the comfort zone with no concrete results plus therez nobody to check u when ur going wrong hence what i learnt the hard way was that..... Its V.IMP TO EXERCISE WD AN INSTRUCTOR cz only an expert can encourage ur confidence helping u shed all fears n apprehensions fostering psychological security which is v.imp in order for u to gv ur 100% for back strengthining exercises. A big thanks to Bhashwati mam.....she is tooo good! So, the bottom line is understand and accept that chronic lower back pain is not curable but yes can be managed very well! There is no quick fix approach that u can spend thousands of rupees somewhere and get rid of it forever.....no that will not happen, plz understand that. IT has taken good amount of time to build up and it will take some good amnt to settle down. IT'S sad that we indians hate to exercise and spend money on fitness classes. It seems a big waste! However the fact remains that just as u give nutrition n food to ur body thrice a day...u need to give some basic stretches n few simple exercises to release the pressure and strain off that lower back area at least twice daily initially and later once daily. UNDERSTAND AND GIVE what ur weak back is yearning for...and im sure it will stop bothering you. MINE HAS...... :-) ------------------------------- Rajesh Konda on Sulekha I am very grateful to Bhaswati Madam. I have learned yoga at Srimoyi yoga for my lower back pain as I used to go to office by two wheeler and I also have sleeplessness problem. I contacted Bhaswati Seal, explained my health problems and I joined. Madam will take the inputs from you before joining and then according to that she will teach very clearly. After completing my classes I feel very great difference in my lower back and sleeplessness problem. I thank to Madam for teaching me such great asanas related to my lower back. Thanks to Bhaswati madam, and I strongly recommend everyone to join yoga at Srimoyi yoga for any health problems. Thanks again ! --------------------------- PCOS/PCOD - Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome/Disease Sohini, 2 years ago at "Facts on PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Tips on dealing with it " I had PCOS and also had hydro-sulphinx, which is a dilated Fallopian tubes. I had lots of alopathic treatment and doctors advised to go for operation...but thanks to my yoga teacher (Bhaswati Seal)...after the yoga class, I've found a miraculous recovery. Bhaswati provided me with some of very basic health and pcos tips and a diet suggestion. a healthy diet, no more cuts on my favourite food, walking and asanas...this is all i've been doing for last 3 months on regular basis...u won't believe, my Fallopian tubes are fine now,PCOS issue is gone and periods are so smooth that hardly i notice that it's there !!!....such a relief...!!! If anyone of u are in Bangalore with painful periods and pcos issues, u can try 'Srimoyi yoga' by Bhaswati...it's really amazing... ------------------------- Thyroid Imbalance/ Hypothyroidism/ Hyperthyroidism Ravi at FindurClass I have brain fog (confusion) and Hypothyroid (auto immune disorder), in order to control these I have joined Yoga. Bhaswati mam tries to teach the relevant pranayam and asanas (apart from the normal Yoga), which will help us in reducing/managing the problem. Bhaswati mam also gives some important tips related to diet, lifestyle which can make a great difference to the overall health. Overall I have found Yoga to be useful in managing my stress effectively and mangaing the symptoms related to the thyroid. I would strongly recommend Srimoyi Yoga at any point. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Asthma Tejaswini on Revaalo - I was having gastritis and bronchial asthma from quite sometime. While joining the yoga session I wasn't that sure whether this will work out or not. The personal care Bhaswati takes for every individual is amazing. She not only taught yoga but also suggested necessary life style changes that helped me recover from the ailments that I am suffering from the past 2 years. Her yoga classes go in a neat manner. Initially she teaches the basic exercises, then moderately difficult exercises and the tough ones. The best part is she remembers if we face any difficulty in doing one asana and she asks about it in the next class. After joining the classes, practicing yoga, following suggested changes in my lifestyle, I could see quite remarkable improvement in my condition. Earlier I used to have short breaths, breathlessness if I walk a little or talk continuously for sometime but now I am able to walk continuously for more than half an hour. Blocked nose that I used to have as soon as I wake up in the morning is not at all there these days. Also I was sometimes having burps and burning sensation in my stomach which is completely disappeared after joining her sessions. I definitely recommend this therapeutic yoga sessions for all those who are serious about curing their ailments thru yoga. Thanks for everything ma'am. Multiple Health Issues By Shilpa at Chikitsa I had been suffering from the following health issues for three years: -pulling and pricking sensations in brain -heart palpitations -heat radiating out of my knees -left face and body pain -whole nervous system was on toss I had been to several doctors and figured out that it was mainly due to stress causing hormonal imbalance in the brain (I was under huge stress for long)... for sometime i was on low dose medicine ..somehow felt that it was not helping me instead i could see few side effects like constipation, numbness, seems like it altered my brain response time which made me meet with accident for twice (I cud literally see a delay in my brain reacting to situations)... I decided not to work on medicine and tried to look for some alternative therapies....tried aromatherapy, hypnosis, homeopathy ,accupuncture etc...It only gave me temporary relief ..at some point I got tired finding ways to heal myself.. meanwhile, I had been to few doctors for second opinion..one of them suggested me for a life-long medicine and other for an year course..few medicines made it worse..somehow I felt none knows for sure... I decided to try yoga and was in search of a good yoga trainer.. thats when i read about srimoyi yoga on net.. Advantages about Srimoyi yoga: -Personal attention as there are only few people in every batch -clear instructions and says the benefits of each asana which helps us decide which one to practice more as per our needs -Environment is too good to do yoga -In addition to yoga , she also give healthy tips -helps u get the postures right -shows a lot of concern in helping u get better Benefits I got : - Simple face exercise that she taught reduced my face pain to about 70% in a mont -knee-clenching exercise helping me in getting away with my knee pain -Reduced anxiety levels -Increased stamina -AT the end of every yoga session experience a kind of spiritual bliss that makes me feel not to miss yoga for even a day.. No one can do magic n heal u in a minute..pull out time for urself.. do yoga consistently..find what is good for u..practice it...sure u get the results.. Finally , to conclude-out of all the things that i tried in past three years I found yoga to be most benefiting...Practicing yoga for a month I see a lot of improvement..n I wish i ll continue it forever... "Morning walk + yoga: makes my day". Thanks Srimoyi Yoga ! ------------------------------------ YOGA FOR SENIORS Yoga revisited.. by P_K_Padmanabhan | on Dec 17, 2012 We had attended a short yoga class conducted by Ms. Bhaswati Seal recently at Bangaluru. It was indeed a very refreshing experience for my wife & me, after our retirement. These classes were different from the ones we had attended earlier, as they were customized in view of our physical and medical conditions. We really liked her masterly interpretation of various Asanas , their benefits and her emphasis of the correct postures and techniques. We will continue these Yoga Asanas as a part of our daily routine henceforth. It has already reduced our tension and stiffness and hope to improve our overall health, both physical and mental. ------------------- GENERAL FITNESS Anukriti Sethi on UrbanPro on 15th December, 2015 Recent stress & anxiety lead me to certain health issues (PCOD specifically). Before starting with a strong medication course, I thought of giving a shot at Yoga. Luckily I landed up at Srimoyi yoga and it has been a blessing ever since the first class. Individual attention was given to each one and all the postures n poses were explained very well. I have sweated out of every pore n stretched muscles I didn't even know I had. Mrs Bhaswati Seal is a wonderful person, ever so welcoming and full of positivity. She has been a great instructor and guide, always putting in her 100% in understanding our issues, customizing the class to suit us best and keeping us motivated all through. Along side the yoga training, Bhaswati mam also advised us on our lifestyle and diet for us to get the best out of yoga practice. Having finished my classes 2 weeks back, my health has already improved drastically, without ANY medicines. It's been a complete physical and mental workout. I feel so relaxed, refreshed, at peace, and ready to take on anything in life. I strongly recommend Srimoyi Yoga and Yoga practice in general to everyone. You have to try it so see what wonders it can do to your body and mind. Needless to say - I am a fan of Yoga. Can't wait to return to Srimoyi for another stretch! :) Sheel S. at YogaTrail on April 15, 2014 If motivation is the key to maintaining a consistent exercise regimen, I found it at Srimoyi. My work schedule was unpredictable enough to frequently interrupt the momentum of exercise routines I used to set. Bhaswati's no nonsense approach to fitness was a compelling reason for me to enroll for her classes. The personalized attention was an added attraction. Her holistic approach is not limited to yoga and extends to advice on nutrition, which benefited me. She customized the classes with specific asanas that help strengthen back and legs which were my major pain areas. I would wholeheartedly recommend Srimoyi Yoga classes to anyone seeking a friend and guide in their quest for fitness. ------------------- " I was mainly looking for general fitness and a method of controlling stress. Yoga has helped me with both. And Bhaswati took special care so that I only do the asanas that do not harm my weak back ( I suffered from a slipped disk about 5 years ago). She also makes sure that the classes never get boring or monotonous by introducing something new in every class and ensures that everyone does just the right thing! " - Srushti ________________________________________ " I had hypothyroid, PCOD, over weight, lower back pain, constant tiredness, from a long time and some time in Nov 09 I was also diagnosed with Plantar Fascitiis, depression, anaemia, osteoporosis of forearms.... this was a wake up call for me. I enrolled in the yoga classes at Bellandur, Marathahalli run by Bhaswati. From there on my enriching journey with Yoga started :)... Her classes are focussed and provide benefits to the whole body as well as concentrate on specific problems and start off with simple basic techniques to a more advanced yoga-asanas. It has been 2 1/2 months since I started and believe me I have been feeling that my new year has started greatly. I feel more energetic, filled with positive energy and can personally see the benefits which has been motivating me to go the Yoga way ... I have lost 6 kgs, my thyroid is controlled, no more lower back pain and my PCOD seems to be rectified :) what more can I ask .... Now I feel guilty even if I miss out on my yoga schedule for a single day!" - Aparna ________________________________________ " I have been attending Bhaswati's yoga classes for a year now. Though the classes were initially for women, now it is open for men as well. I was very skeptical in the beginning as to whether yoga will benefit men. But i was in for a pleasant surprise. I have been immensely benefited. Its not strenuous which is a misconception, and the one hour yoga is more helpful than an hour in the gym. The main difference is that the entire body gets exercised, unlike workouts. The long term benefits are huge and its worth spending time. Of course the benefits are not seen immediately (nowadays we need instant gratification) , but over a period of time. I have become more active, flexible . The pranayam techniques and Suryanamaskara's are really helpful. It needs to be practiced regularly to see the benefits. I will strongly recommend the classes to anyone who is interested in improving health. This course helps people in IT profession who are not used to moving around. The yoga classes are conveniently located at Bellandur, Bangalore and close to Marathahalli." - Rajith |
